Joe D’Arrigo

Executive Director

Joe brings more than 45 years of experience in the benefits business to the Archdiocese. His business experience includes developing two successful benefits consulting companies and acting as strategic advisor to a number of other firms. Joe has shared his entrepreneurial approach in the nonprofit world. Over the course of his career he has served on the boards of a number of charitable organizations, including Catholic Charities, where he chaired the task force for developing a strategic plan that continues to be of value in their ongoing operations. Today he sits on the boards of the Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester and the Ron Burton Training Village. Joe’s primary focus has been to stabilize the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust, to restore the strength of the Trusts, and to assure that the priests of the diocese will be provided for today and in the future.


Maryellen Barrett

Vice President of Finance

Maryellen joined the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust staff in April of 2011 from the RCAB Finance Department where she spent the majority of her time supporting the Trusts since 2008. Maryellen brings more than 25 years of experience as a financial manager for various public and private organizations and serves on the Finance Council of her parish. Maryellen is responsible for managing all financial aspects of the Trusts, working closely with the Board of Trustees and other committees to provide insight to all financial matters.


Stephen Gust

Director of Regina Cleri

Stephen has been the Director of Regina Cleri since July 2009. He brings more than 20 years of experience working at Regina Cleri, and as Director was instrumental in making major changes in the strategic direction of the residence. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations and leads a team of managers that assist in providing the highest quality of care for the 56 priests who currently reside at Regina Cleri. Stephen has a Massachusetts Nursing Home Administrator License and prior to working at Regina Cleri, worked for Hospitality, Inc., a company that managed a number of hotel chains throughout New England.


Amy Nash, LSW

Senior Care Manager

Amy joined the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust staff as a Senior Care Manager in October 2016. Amy has more than 10 years of experience working with the geriatric population within our local communities. She previously worked as a Case Manager and Geriatric Support Service Coordinator for an Aging Services Access Point (ASAP) and more recently as a Senior Care Options Clinical Consultant for private health insurance plans. Amy has a vast knowledge of the resources available to elders in the community and is dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of all of our priests.

Joan Smith

Clergy Benefits Coordinator

Joan joined the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust staff in June of 2009 and comes to us with over 20 years of experience as a Benefits Specialist. She also has over 25 years of service in the United States Army Reserve. Joan was awarded two US Army Achievement Medals & a Global War on Terrorism Medal. Joan is responsible for coordinating health and retirement benefits for all active and senior priests.



Jiahong Lin

Senior Accountant

Jiahong joined the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust as a Staff Accountant in May 2014 from the RCAB Finance Department. Jiahong started with the RCAB Finance Team in 2008, and during her time there worked closely with the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust and Regina Cleri. Jiahong has more than 13 years of experience in finance and accounting in both the public and private sectors.


Joanne Strondak

Administrative Assisstant

Joanne joined the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust staff as a part time Administrative Assistant in July 2016. Joanne has many years of experience as Executive Assistant in the RCAB Chancellor’s Office and for CEOs of private financial institutions. She will be providing administrative support to the Executive Management and the Board of Trustees, as well as coordinating the Wellness Seminar Program for our priests.
